Questions about SeeSomeone
SeeSomeone is a directory, not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are thinking about suicide or need crisis support in Canada, call or text 9-8-8.
- What is SeeSomeone?
- A directory of mental-health professionals practising in Canada. You search by profession and location, compare what is known about each professional, and contact them yourself.
- Does SeeSomeone provide therapy?
- No. SeeSomeone does not provide therapy, assessment, diagnosis or treatment, and does not recommend one professional over another. Any professional relationship is between you and the person you contact.
- Who owns SeeSomeone?
- SeeSomeone is owned and operated by Roaring Coast Inc., a Canadian company. Roaring Coast Inc. operates the directory. It does not provide clinical care.
- How does provider information get onto SeeSomeone?
- Most listings are built from information professionals and their practices have already published, such as practice websites and clinic team pages. Professionals can also create and manage their own listing. Each listing records where its information came from.
- How does SeeSomeone verify professional registration?
- When a professional applies or claims a listing, they give us their registration details, and we check that the title they claim is one they are entitled to use in that province. Titles differ by province, and we apply the rules of the province in question rather than a single national assumption.
- What does "verified" mean here?
- It means a specific, narrow thing: that a claim to a professional title has been checked against the registration information given to us. It is not a judgement about competence, quality or fit, and it is not a recommendation. Where we have not checked something, we do not call it verified.
- Why is some information marked unknown?
- Because we would rather say we do not know than guess. A clinic team page usually says where somebody practises, not how they deliver care, what they charge or whether they are taking clients. When a source does not state something, we leave it unknown instead of inferring it. Unknown means unknown, not no.
- What does availability information mean?
- Where a professional or their practice has stated whether they are taking new clients, we show that statement along with the date we saw it. Most listings have no availability information at all, and those simply do not show a status.
- How current is availability information?
- Every availability statement is shown with the date it was seen or confirmed, so an old answer never looks like a current one. Always confirm with the professional before relying on it.
- Can a professional claim their profile?
- Yes. A professional can claim an existing listing or create one, and then correct it, add to it, keep availability current, or ask for it to be removed. Start at Join SeeSomeone.
- Is a basic listing free?
- Yes. Claiming and keeping a basic listing is free and stays free.
- What does Premium cost?
- $29.99 CAD/month + applicable taxes, billed monthly. It can be cancelled at any time, and cancelling leaves the basic listing in place.
- What is included with Premium?
- Featured placement above free listings within searches the professional already matches, a richer search result showing a headline and current availability, a photograph, headline and About section on the profile, a live booking link, and activity information about the listing.
- Can professionals pay for featured placement?
- Yes, and we say so. Premium buys prominence: a Premium listing is placed above free listings within the results it already matches, and those results are labelled as featured where they appear. Among Premium listings the order rotates rather than favouring whoever paid first.
- Does Premium make a professional verified, or more likely to appear?
- No. Premium changes the order and presentation of results. It does not verify anybody, it is not an endorsement or a statement of quality, and it does not change whether a professional is eligible to appear in a search. A free listing and a Premium listing match exactly the same searches; billing has nothing to do with who matches.
- How can a professional correct or remove information?
- Claim the listing and edit it, or write to hello@seesomeone.ca and say what is wrong. We will correct or remove information about a professional at their request. We do not require somebody to buy anything in order to correct their own listing.
- How can someone report inaccurate information?
- Use the “Report an issue” link on the profile itself, which tells us which listing you mean, or write to hello@seesomeone.ca. Reports about a professional’s registration or conduct should also go to the relevant provincial regulator, which is the body able to act on them.
- How do I contact SeeSomeone?
- For help with an account, a listing, a correction, a privacy request or a SeeSomeone Premium subscription, write to hello@seesomeone.ca. It is a mailbox and not a clinical or crisis service: SeeSomeone does not provide therapy, assessment or advice about your care. If you are in immediate danger call 911. If you are thinking about suicide or need crisis support in Canada, call or text 9-8-8.
