How SeeSomeone works
How availability works
The most useful thing a directory can tell you is whether somebody has room for a new client. An old answer is worse than no answer, so every availability status on SeeSomeone carries its date.
What a status means
- Accepting new clients. The professional, or their practice, has said they are taking new clients.
- Limited availability. They are taking some new clients, with constraints such as particular days or a short list.
- Waitlist only. New clients can join a waiting list.
- Not accepting new clients. They have said they are full.
- Availability not yet confirmed. Nobody has told us, and no source we can point to says. It does not mean they are full, and it does not mean they have room.
Who confirmed it, and when
Beside every status is a line saying where it came from. “Updated by the professional” means the person who manages the profile confirmed it themselves. “Seen on their practice website” means we read it on the practice’s own site. Either way the date is shown, so you can judge how much weight to give it.
How long a confirmation counts
A status is treated as current for 30 days from the date it was confirmed or last seen. After that the profile stops presenting it as the current answer and says “Availability not recently confirmed”, still with the original date. We do not quietly keep showing an old “Accepting” as though it were today’s.
When you sort results by “accepting new clients first”, the professionals shown first are those confirmed as accepting within the last 30 days. Everyone else who matches your search still appears below them.
Why most profiles have no status yet
Most listings are built from public sources, and most practice websites do not say whether a clinician is taking clients. We would rather show “not yet confirmed” than infer an answer. Availability appears as professionals claim their profiles and keep it current, which takes them a few seconds.
Before you rely on it
Availability changes quickly. Treat a status as a good reason to get in touch, and confirm with the professional. If a status looks wrong, use “Report an issue” on the profile. See corrections.
